16. Exploring Bream and Whitecroft

16. Exploring Bream and Whitecroft – 6.5 miles – Moderate to Strenuous – 11:00 – £5

This 6 ½ mile circular walk covers all of the Bream Heritage Walk which is part of the Foresters Forest Heritage Lottery funded project. Starting in the centre of Bream village the walk passes the oldest part of the village before moving through the former iron ore mining area of Noxon Park. Next we move on to the coal measures and the remnants of Flourmill colliery before descending through woodland to Whitecroft. The return to Bream is made via Saunders Green and Pastors Hill.
Start time 11:00, meet in the car park at the West Dean Centre, Bream.
Time 4-5 hours approx. including a stop in Whitecroft at lunchtime.
Uneven surfaces, strong shoes advised.
3 stiles to cross (stiles can be avoided by taking shortcut – guide will advise)
