20. Newnham, Bullo Pill and Blaize Bailey

Park in car park just off A48 at eastern end of Newnham, GR693120. This is a walk of contrasts, having both lowland walking in the Severn Vale and spectacular views from the Forest of Dean escarpment.

This is a moderate walk, mainly on field paths and forest tracks. but with one long steady climb up to Blaize Bailey and one significant descent back down to the river. There are 14 stiles. Please bring plenty of water and a packed lunch It begins with a stroll through the former port of Newnham and then follows the river bank before turning inland to climb into the forest and reach the Blaize Bailey viewpoint. It then follows the ridge with its views over the Vale of Gloucester before  descending through farm land to return to the river.
