9. Parkend Historical Stroll

9. Parkend Historical Stroll – Approx 2 miles – Moderate – 18:00 – £5

In this centenary year of the Forestry Commission, this walk will visit some of the locations in Parkend associated with the commission. From the former home of the Deputy Surveyor to the school of Forestry which used a building erected for Parkend Ironworks. We will explore the site of the pond that supplied a huge waterwheel and investigate how the water got there. We will pass the sites some former coalmines and finally the site of the Parkend tinworks.

This is an easy walk but strong footwear will be needed as some of the walk uses uneven surfaces.
Some short uphill sections
Distance approx. 2 miles.
Starting point outside Parkend Memorial Hall.
